Lindsay Komar


Lindsay was born in Charlottesville, Virginia and moved to Edmonton, Alberta with her family in 1991. She now lives in ward Papastew located within treaty 6 territory. She acknowledges the environmental leadership of the original stewards of this land and is committed to supporting their efforts to safeguard our planet.


Lindsay graduated from the University of Alberta in 2006 with a BScN. During her years working as an RN in the NICU, she discovered her passion for teaching and was inspired to return to the U of A to pursue a Master of Nursing in the Teaching and Learning stream. She is currently in her final year of the MN program and looks forward to exploring how to incorporate planetary health education into both undergraduate and graduate nursing curricula for her Capstone research.


Lindsay has been a Registered Nurse in Alberta for 15 years. After graduating from nursing school, she spent much of her career working in Newborn Intensive Care at the University of Virginia Children’s Hospital and the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton.


Lindsay has been a passionate advocate for climate action in her personal life and she is now focused on promoting planetary health on a professional level. Lindsay is excited to be a member of CANE and hopes to contribute to this organization in a meaningful way as co-chair for Alberta Representative.
