Background

I was born and raised in Northern Ontario on the traditional land of Anishnawbe people. I am a guest on the land of the Yellowknife Dene First Nations People, Chief Drygeese Territory. I have been living in Yellowknife for over 18 years with family.

Education

BSN (Lakehead University), MBA (University of Texas), MSN-IPAC (University of Colorado), EdD (Western University)

Career

I started my career as a home care nurse then quickly transitioned to an ICU setting. In my 30 years of nursing I have worked in medicine, OHS/IPAC, management, administration, case management, hospice, gerontology, and education in Canada and the U.S.A. Since 2014 I have worked for Aurora College as a BSN instructor.

Interests

My primary interests involve circumpolar and planetary health. I belong to the Northern Nurses Education Network through UArctic of which I have had many experiences to present, visit and globally network. I am also focused on equity and accommodation in higher education. I currently reside with my husband and grown children. In my free time I love to read, run, walk with my lab, and travel.
