I graduated from McGill University’s BScN program in 2008 and went to Sydney University in Sydney, Australia to complete my Masters of International Public Health. Since I’ve continued my learning journey by completing my LEAN six sigma green belt and planetary health focused courses offered through CASCADES and CANE.
Éducation
J’ai obtenu mon baccalauréat en sciences infirmières (BScN) à l’Université McGill en 2008, puis j’ai poursuivi mes études à l’Université de Sydney, en Australie, où j’ai obtenu une maîtrise en santé publique internationale. Depuis, j’ai continué à approfondir mes connaissances en complétant ma certification Lean Six Sigma (niveau vert) et en suivant des formations axées sur la santé planétaire offertes par CASCADES et ACIIE.
I started my career in the emergency room at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. I’ve spent the majority of my career working as a primary care nurse in a remote Inuit village in Nunavik, Quebec and abroad on various humanitarian assignments. I’ve also worked in nursing education being a clinical preceptor and developing policies and training material for Médecins Sans Frontières. I am currently the nursing advisor working on the Quality Improvement and Risk Management team at Kateri Memorial Hospital Center in Kahnawake, Quebec, where I started a green team to improve the hospital’s sustainability and decrease its climate impact on the community.
Carrière
J’ai débuté ma carrière aux urgences de l’Hôpital général juif de Montréal. J’ai passé la majorité de ma carrière comme infirmière en rôle élargi dans un village inuit isolé du Nunavik, au Québec, et à l’étranger dans le cadre de diverses missions humanitaires. J’ai également œuvré dans le domaine de la formation infirmière, notamment comme préceptrice clinique et en participant à l’élaboration de politiques et de contenu de formation pour Médecins Sans Frontières. Je suis actuellement conseillère en soins infirmiers au sein de l’équipe d’amélioration de la qualité et de gestion des risques du Centre hospitalier Kateri Memorial de Kahnawake, Québec, où j’ai mis sur pied une équipe verte afin d’améliorer la durabilité de l’hôpital et de réduire son impact climatique sur la communauté.
As an avid scuba diver and artistic swimmer, I have a love for the ocean which drives me to want to protect it for generations to come. I also enjoy hiking, gardening and I am trying to learn how to sow on my grandmother’s old sewing machine.
I’ve always had an interest in protecting our environment and having seen first hand the effects of climate change, both in northern Quebec and across sub-saharan Africa, I believe nurses are in a unique and important position to make impactful change. In my role on the CANE board, I hope to be able to encourage and support Quebec nurses in embracing planetary health and improving both the health of our clientele and the planet.
Intérêts
Passionnée de plongée sous-marine et de natation artistique, j’ai un profond amour pour l’océan et je souhaite le protéger pour les générations futures. J’aime aussi la randonnée, le jardinage et j’apprends à coudre sur la vieille machine à coudre de ma grand-mère. J’ai toujours eu à cœur la protection de l’environnement et, ayant constaté de visu les effets des changements climatiques, tant dans le nord du Québec qu’en Afrique subsaharienne, je crois que les infirmières et infirmiers occupent une place unique et essentielle pour contribuer à un changement significatif. Au sein du conseil d’administration d`ACIIE, j’espère pouvoir encourager et soutenir les infirmières et infirmiers du Québec à adopter une approche globale de la santé planétaire et à améliorer la santé de notre clientèle et de la planète.
