Emergency Preparedness Week 2025

Description of Issue

Be Prepared. Know Your Risks.

Emergency Preparedness Week (EP Week) is a national awareness initiative and an opportunity for you to take action to ensure you’re prepared to protect yourself, your family and your community during an emergency. This year, the theme is Be Prepared. Know Your Risks. We encourage you to understand the risks in your area and learn what actions you can take to protect yourself and your household.

This year, EP Week is May 4-10, 2025.

Brief Highlight

Across Canada, we face a number of hazards, which can vary from region to region. Knowing what to do is an important part of being prepared. Find out about risks in your region and how to prepare for different situations. People in Canada should also be aware that other hazards can trigger emergencies that may affect them. These emergencies could be bomb threats, chemical spills or infectious disease outbreaks.

Description of Action

By taking an active role in your community, you’re helping to build a culture of preparedness in Canada. While governments at all levels are working hard to keep Canada safe, everyone has a role to play in being prepared for an emergency.
