Climate, Health, and Healthcare: A Speaker Series for Health Professional Learners

Climate, Health, and Healthcare: A Speaker Series for Health Professional Learners

Session 6: Patient and Planetary Health: Lessons from Indigenous Knowledge Systems.

Climate change has profound implications for health and healthcare. But healthcare professional trainees often have little to no exposure to climate and sustainability topics during their training.

This series will introduce students to the impact of climate change on health and health equity, what this means for healthcare, and how we can advocate and promote a more resilient and sustainable health system in a low carbon world.

The speaker series consists of 6 sessions in total, each ~1hr in length. In order to receive a certificate of completion, students must attend a minimum of 4/6 sessions AND write a brief reflection on their experience (250-500 words; more details on this will be provided for those who express interest in participating). Students who do NOT wish to participate in the program are welcome to join as many or as few sessions as they want.
