ANHE’s mission is to promote healthy people and healthy environments by educating and leading the nursing profession, advancing research, incorporating evidence-based practice, and influencing policy.
Over the years, CANE has been involved in a number of ANHE initiatives including Nurses’ Drawdown.
CANE has endorsed the Nurses’ Drawdown campaign, a project of the Alliance of Nurses for Healthy Environments and Project Drawdown that focuses on climate change action directed at the following 5 areas:
ENERGY: Supporting a clean energy future by promoting energy efficiency and advocating for a transition to renewable energy
FOOD: Commit to a plant-based diet, use of clean cook stoves, and reduced food waste
MOBILITY: Bike infrastructure, walkable cities, and mass transit
GENDER EQUITY: Educating girls and family planning
NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS: Planting trees, protecting tropical forests and forest protection
CANE encourages all nurses to join this effort and make a real contribution to the mitigation of climate change effects.
